    P.R.oblems in Arlington?

Happy Birthday Rush Limbaugh and Howard Stern! Two voices that have changed the face of radio for the last thirty years for better and for worse.

Steeler fans remember this day in 1975 when the defense stymied Chuck Foreman and the Vikings 16-6 at Tulane Stadium in New Orleans, La. A late TD pass from Terry Bradshaw to Terry Brown your difference maker. Franco Harris ran for 158 yards.

The Eagles soared and the Steelers roared. I always enjoy watching the snow fall in January. Did Pittsburgh really control the 3rd quarter for 14:43? UNBELIEVABLE! Willie Parker put forth an outstanding running effort for the Steelers. If I were Donovan McNabb while being interviewed I would have said, 'Hey T.O. How you liking Dallas and that freak game show Pac-Man? See you in Tampa!' McNabb of course didn't go there.

Next Sunday I am picking the Eagles and Steelers to advance. Starting times are 3 and 6:30 pm EST.

Closer to home: Did Jon Daniels really tell Michael Young to play third base to allow for Elvis Andrus to start at shortstop? And to think that Michael used to play second before Alfonso Soriano came to Texas in 2004. What happened to Hank Blalock and Chris Davis? Oh yeah, I forgot, it's another year to rebuild and reinvent. Did the Cowboys ask Tony Romo to move to linebacker? Did the Stars tell Mike Modano to go play goalie? Did Rick Carlisle issue an ultimatum to Dirk Nowitzki to be more like Kidd and just play guard and pass? NO!

I expect the local media to start getting on Young for not being a team guy on this one. After being told John Hart didn't want him. After dealing with the ilk of A-Rod and Mark Teixeira. After ten years of cellar dwelling. After winning an umpteenth Gold Glove Award. I state this attempted move by Ron Washington and company is a stupid attempt to hose the face of the Texas Rangers! That ever fading CHA-CHING sound will be the moneys saved for fans who won't come to Arlington and the players heading elsewhere. The ultimate P.R. nightmare and Texas again won't get it right! Sad...

Talking to my pal Zak this morning. Told him about a band I saw perform Sunday. It was like X meets the Dead Milkmen meets the Outlaws meets Adam Ant. Spaghetti Western rock and roll music even Sam Peckinpaugh would appreciate! I speak of ten year veteran Dallas band Ghoultown. Zak's face lit up as he told me that four years ago he toured with the guys when he was in Floodwater, calling the Ghoultown sound 'badass'! Steph had a birthday, Poor David's Pub looked like it had a lot of history inside, and downtown Dallas glowed under a raging moon! I had a wonderful time, even if Mallory had a Tourette's moment...

Movie Goers: Like Lord of The Rings, if you don't mind a 3 hour flick, by all means check out 'The Curious Case of Benjamin Buttons'. Brad Pitt and Cate Blanchett were outstanding and the theme of the movie rocked! I'm ready to grow old now.

Time for a nap before watching hockey!

Over and out in Big D
