That Dirty Dozen!
Hank Steinbrenner made no bones about the fact that the Yankees needing to score some runs. Talk about taking that to an extreme! Any hopes of a Ranger sweep this day fell by the wayside when New York erupted for 12 unanswered runs in two innings after falling behind by scores of 3-1 and 7-6. Sidney Ponson the ex-Ranger was anything but good. Saved by three double plays, he lost his control in the 6th with homers by Milton Bradley and a monster blast by Chris Davis.
Six walks and two costly errors led to five unearned runs, a six rbi night for Jason Giambi, and a three run bomb to A-Rod. Tonight was not a case of the Rangers getting too cute. This was a case of the bullpen getting hammered as rookie Madrigal took the spot of an injured Eddie Guardado and getting hammered for five runs.
An 18-7 shellacking and a major blow to the ego. The Rangers take the series and now get to rest a day while preparing for a still-contending Orioles team. Remember what happened a year ago when the Rangers played at Camden Yards? Can you say 30 runs in one game?
I actually saw some of the Rays-Red Sox game tonight. To see over 36,000 fans fill up the Trop was a welcome surprise. To see Dick Vitale actually in the stands watching had me wishing he was miked up and ready to go. Tampa did the unthinkable and pulled off the sweep on Boston. A three and a half game lead for the Rays in early July. Let's see what awaits them when September arrives. Meantime the starting staff of Kazmir and Garza and company impressed me when I saw them play three weeks ago. As long as the Rays keep winning, that means Evan Longoria will get all the Rookie Of the Year love, not David Murphy...
Is Brett Favre really itching to come back and play for the Pack? Is Brett's middle name Rasputin? How many lives does this legend want or need? Doesn't Aaron Rodgers deserve a little better? Is this another media rumor to keep a slow month exciting? Stay retired Brett! You had a great run. Unless you decide to be a Viking, stay retired...
If it really takes two people to help fit me into a LZR speedo suit, no thanks. The only records I want to make involve me spinning vinyl on a player. Nothing more and nothing less.
Marian Hossa now a Red Wing, Sean Avery a Dallas Star. Campbell leaves San Jose and signs a 56 million dollar deal to be with the Blackhawks. That's some serious K, eh?
Baron Davis now a Clipper. Does Elton Brand stay or go? I feel a clash coming on and I dont mean Joe Strummer looking for a clampdown with a tommygun and London calling! Happy to see the Mavs sign Gerald Green to a long term deal.
Venus and Roger will win Wimbledon hands down! Any questions? Happy viewing!
Got your plans set for the 4th? Be safe wherever you go-please!
Over and out in Big D
