Defending Milton.
Happy Birthday George Herbert Walker Bush, Marv Albert, and KK!
Remember where you were this day in 1994 when it was discovered a grisly murder was committed by (allegedly and universally believed) an ex-Football star and TV personality? Yes we are are speaking of OJ Simpson and what happened to ex-wife Nicole and Ron Goldman. The trial was a farce, juries in Los Angeles can't get it right without a race card, and a murderer went free 10/3/95. Johnny Cochran had his moment in the sun defending the juice as it was shown over and over again how inept the L.A. Police were in the handling of the evidence. Fourteen years later no doubt Juice continues to to hunt for his killers. As for his freedom, you can thank Brenda Moran and company for wasting nine months of court time just to spend a few hours rendering a verdict.
The Rangers had a deja-vu in Missouri town this night. For the second night in a row, the Rangers fall behind 5-1 only to come back in a big way. Two homers and five rbi's for David Murphy from the seventh inning onward led to ten unanswered runs and a 12-5 victory. The Ranger lineup is explosive when all the parts work properly. I liken this lineup to the Indians of 1997. There wasn't a chink in the armor that year for the Tribe. I feel as strongly about the Texas nine. I'll worry about the relief pitching another day. CJ is not the final answer! Heavy winds blew around Kaufman Stadium this night under threatening skies. It was to no avail for Kansas City. It was a nice cool-off for the Rangers. Josh Hamilton added to his rbi lead and Milton Bradley had the key hit early. Tomorrow the Rangers will try to complete the sweep with a matinee game. Eric Hurley will make his pitching debut.
Careful how you try to pay a compliment: During the course of tonight's Ranger win in Missouri, Royals announcer Ryan Lefebvre managed to commit a faux pas. In paying tribute to what Josh Hamilton has overcome with addiction he went on to say that Milton Bradley has not tried to cure his 'anger issues'. This almost led to a friendly confrontation of Bradley wanting to confront the announcer and set him straight.
Ron Washington made this abundantly clear last week in a Q and A session for season ticket holders. Wash and Milton Bradley have history together in Oakland. You will never hear a teammate blast Milt about his demeanor in the locker room. In fact, if it weren't for Josh Hamilton, we would talking alot more about how well Milton Bradley has done in the four spot. How he sets up well for rookie David Murphy and how this also leads to Hammy seeing alot of good pitches before him. Milton Bradley is a perfectionist who is constantly demanding more of himself. That's the reason you'll see an occasional fuse blow. The biggest concern Texas has for Milton Bradley? Keeping him injury free! So far so good...
We are still a few months away from the start of college football season. Having spoken with Mr. Maduro, there will be a weekend getaway to College Station sometime this fall. It is also my hope to watch LSU do their thing in Death Valley. I am also hopeful of watching TCU and Gary Patterson's boys do their thing this autumn. Aggieland is a definite go. I also predict Jarrod Johson will be your starter for A&M.
Over and out in Big D
