    Kason Point!

This day in 1981, Pope John Paul survives an assassination. One year later he would forgive his shooter Ali Agca. That is one compassionate guy, eh?

State the obvious: The Dallas Stars are done. Poor shot selection, unable to to take a lead, unable to keep up with the speed and finesse of Detroit, can we please stop the bleeding and let this series end in 4? That would be the best remedy for Stars fans. I was miffed enough when I saw the poor defensive line change that lead to a Red Wing goal. Detroit wins 5-2, and Dallas I now commend for a great seasonal run. See you in October. Yes Steph you will be going on Wednesday...

It required a little overtime and a little frustration, yet in ten innings Monday the Texas Rangers won a walk-off thriller over the Mariners 13-12. Vicente Padilla had bad luck in the first inning via a balk and an error that lead to five runs (only two earned) before settling down through the 6th.

Some excitement in the 5th as Josh Hamilton and Milton Bradley hit back-to-back ropes. Hamilton's mash was measured at 460 feet. The Rangers would get ahead 6-5. Some timely hits by David Murphy and Ramon Vazquez would give Texas a 12-8 lead. CJ Wilson was one strike away from a win when he hung an 0-2 fastball into the eyes of Kenji Johjima, a 3-run homer that tied things up at 12. In the tenth frame the man who wore number 12, Ramon Vazquez hit a bomb that ended things in the Rangers favor sending 18,000 happy fans home.

Texas would also get a strong performance from Kason Gabbard this night as the rematch from last weeks basebrawl went off without a hitch. Felix Hernandez was off on this humid night with a tornado watch all around. Again Ramon Vazquez had a key hit and Eddie Guardado got a save in a 5-2 win.

I watched Baseball tonight on ESPN expecting to see a little Ranger love get tossed around. After all it was ex Rangers Buck Showalter and Eric Young in the analysts chair. It took 38 minutes...and finally there was a kudos for some fine defensive plays by Ian Kinsler and Josh Hamilton. NOT ONE UPDATE OR REPORT on the Rangers Mariners game! If it isn't about the Red Sox, Yankees, Cubs, or Dodgers, it just isn't sexy. What a joke! Last year Texas started the season 19-42. This year 20-21 and no kudos from anywhere? What gives?!?!???

Here we are in May and we are really talking about two Florida teams toying with first place despite the lowest payrolls in all of major league baseball? Since Florida took such a beating in the 2000 election, I would laugh if these two teams met in a World Series. I would then recommend the first promotion: If your name is Chad and you can hang upside down, you get in for free! Why not?

Texas is all about football. Especially in high school. A city called Southlake now has long lines for next falls highschool tickets for the Dragons. Good luck getting them if you aren't already in line. 4 tickets will cost you upwards of 640 dollars. Yep, football in Texas is HUGE!

A brand new double A baseball team starts it's season/career in Grand Prairie. The Air Hogs start playing on the 16th. This now gives North Texas a third viable minor league team to enjoy watching alongside the Frisco Roughriders and the single A team out of Mansfield. I look forward to attending.

Over and out in Big D
