    F' ing CRud!

There is a bad thing being passed around at work. I call it the crud. That's where cold weather and poor dressing decisions mixed with hungover coworkers who are clueless about covering their mouths when coughing/sneezing create an epidemic of sick and phlegm buoyant (thats if your phlegm floats!). Stuffy headed, ear clogged, poor attitude and work ethic.

Since sobering up in 1997 I cannot remember a time when I was sicker for the course of a week. Hot and cold flashes, poor sleeping fits by the hour, poorly heated parts of the place you work, and the recipe for feeling crappy grows two fold...Everything seems a beatdown, nothing comes easy, everybody seems to be a little too high maintenance for you. That's Dallas every day :)

Yesterday after the fog lifted we saw an old friend, the sun. It was also the first time in almost nine days we had warmer temps that didn't make your bones feel like peanut brittle. It was a welcome respite.

Today the mercury would flirt with 70, again after the morning fog wore off. The drive to Las Colinas from Arlington had a 'Twilight Zone' kind of feel, as visibility was next to zero for 20 miles.

For a week I reminded my staff that the weather we experienced in the last week is very similar to what you might deal with in the Northwest in winter. It then occurred to me how crazy I was for spending almost eight years in that environment...

As the sunshine bore down in the 1 o'clock hour, I noticed a smile was on my face. After feeling like absolute crap all week long with little chance to sleep or breathe, my right ear finally popped for better hearing. The left side was almost there. The work day was also about to end. Made perfect sense...

It has been said that sun has a great benefit in Vitamin D. I'd say I was three quarts low since the new year began. Happy to just breathe pain-free again!

Welcome back Mr Sunshine. You have been missed!

Over and out in Big D

    P.S.

I didn't forget! Yes it was on this day in 1991 that Scott Norwood would kick wide right at the gun in a 20-19 loss to the New York Giants in Super Bowl XXV from Tampa Bay. A game that New York held the ball for over 40 minutes and Jeff Hostetler played admirably after trailing at the half 12-3. Ottis Anderson ate up huge chunks of yardage on the ground...
