2 Cubans in the Same Aisle!

Labor Day 2007 was fun, eventful, and quite draining. The mercury was at 80 most of the day but the humidity made things feel alot hotter. UGH! There was a threat of thunderstorms all day. What I actually went through was an occasional anointing of the ground in the name of a steady drizzle in what would be my first football visit to the SMU campus in the shadow of Highland Park Texas...

I was surprised and amazed at the number of Red Raider fans who filled up Ford Field! By my count it was a 75-25 split. Every one whom I spoke to said the same thing,'This team can score in a hurry!' Boy was that an understatement! QB Graham Harrell and Frosh receiver Mike Crabtree hooked up for four TD's and ran the poor Mustangs silly in the secondary. It appeared that Mike Leach's squad had little difficulty in breaking down the SMU style of Zone D...Tech won easily 49-6...

With apologies to the Mustang fans and the good people of SMU, Justin Willis looked plain lost at the QB spot. I counted three times when there wasn't a play sent on time and time had to be called. I will not be surprised if another Quarterback gets a starting nod if things do not improve against the Mean Green of North Texas, Thanks to Shelby for the ticket.

I found myself a spot on the 50 and took over 400 pictures. The fans were great except for one heavy set Red Raider fan who thought it cute to squeal/yell like Freddy Krueger was tailing her after every play. Obnoxious, and I told her so. Otherwise I'll say that an afternoon/evening of SMU football is a worthwhile and easy investment. Texas Tech is going to be a blow gasket on offense, a la Klif Kingsbury days, putting up the points.

Saw Texas get hammered by their arch nemesis, the Royals this night 8-1. Once again the Rangers catch Kansas City after a successful road swing through Anaheim. The Royals always seem to have our number, much like the D Rays giving the Yankees all kinds of fits. The one night I don't bring my camera...MAVERICK OWNER MARK CUBAN WALKS RIGHT BY ME! Ooh was I pissed! Tired from all the running around, I recognized a face and it took two minutes and a murmur of fans to say his name that I came to. One day I'll get a picture with that billionaire.

Back to work in the morning, I hope the weekend treated you well! More pics from the SMU-Tech game will be posted in the next 24 hours. To that nice young lady from Houston, you can reach me at will@masterofnothing.com Any fan of baseball is a friend of mine...for life!

Over and out in Big D
