Shootout and a Shoutout!
Undoubtedly this shall go down as one of the more memorable weeks that I have endured in quite a long time. It amazes me that you make a change in one or two areas of your life and all of a sudden you find yourself in some interesting situations. That said...
Today I finally did it. I made the purchase that was long overdue. A Bathroom scale so I will no longer have excuses about my health and my appearance. It was 31 days ago when I vowed to evoke change. 31 days ago I had my last soda, coffee, dessert, chocolate, Starbucks, scone, to replace/replenish with Green Tea, water, salads, pasta, fruit. It was also 31 days ago I began jogging/riding bike/light weights. On Christmas I am embarrassed to say I tipped Barbara's scale at 260. Scared the holy hell out of me!
Today I stepped on my scale...and the number read 240. 20 pounds in one month! That is exciting to say the least. I still have a ways to go. I believe my ideal weight should be 195. This is a journey for progress, not perfection. This is what I wasn't doing for so long-taking care of business. I cannot even begin to tell you how energetic I feel whether I sleep a full 7 hours or just three and a half. I am more stoked about the fact that I can now fit into a size 38 pant. 32-34 is my ultimate goal.
More than anything I thank the Good Lord for allowing me the ability and the mobility to strengthen myself and not endure any kind of pain. I am enjoying this moment in my life and wish to merely maintain. The last time I was this excited was prom night 1982...another story for another time.
Hockey fans locally got to enjoy a double dose of stardom in the name of Sydney Crosby as his Penguins were in town Friday night. A great game that went to the shootout before Pittsburgh prevailed 3-2. Mr Crosby is everything that is advertised. On a night where Mark Recchi collected career goal #500, I kept thinking to myself,'This kid is going to be everything Wayne Gretzky was...and more!' Despite the loss Dallas is about to get back a bunch of their starters who were injured.
Craig Meinhart is someone I work with in Las Colinas. Off duty he fronts a band called Silvertonguedevil. High energy heavy metal at it's finest. It took a year but I finally commited to going to watch him at Fat Daddy's in Lewisville last night. Sixty minutes of hard hitting sound and fury! Great to be in that environment again. Next time I will be sure to dress down. Thanks, Craig! See you next show.
Tonight my girl Chuntae is having her bachelorette party! I will be her designated driver and photographer as North Texas shall get a dose of Champps Girl Power. I can only imagine what pictures await tomorrow...
Make it a great weekend!
Over and out in Big D
