Major Minor.
Yesterday I did my proverbial double dip whilst watching the Rangers and Roughriders do their thing. It isn't often you get to see the major and minor league version of two teams on the same day. On the major side, Angel Vladimir Guerrero continues to assault Texas pitching as he has now reached base in 42 straight games. That is the longest streak since divisional play began back in 1969!!!
The next closest streak of the sort would be Ken Griffey Jr. at 35 games when he battled Cleveland in the late 90's. Amazing too when you watch the junk that Vlad will reach for and make playable...
The late relief continues to bugaboo Texas as another chance to create space between themselves and Oakland evaporated in an 8-5 loss to the Halos.
Tuesday night's debacle was bad enough, yet I am guessing that Robinson Tejada may be headed back to Oklahoma City after this start. Oakland in town for four...
Watching Texas these days reminds me of that 1988 Escape Club tune,'Wild Wild West'. Who wants to win? Ugh!
The Arkansas Travelers have an abundance of good young talent a few years away from making the pros. Two names that will stay with me are Devin Day and Brandon Wood. Wood hit a mammoth blast early on for Arkansas that brought a gasp from the fans.
Later in the game Luke Grayson (a Miguel Tejada lookalike) went deep with a 5th inning blast to knot things up at 4-all. Kevin Mahar hits a walk-off single and Frisco wins 5-4. Some Roughrider names to keep in the memory bank: Justin Blalock, Travis Metcalf, and a Philly kid with the last name of Fasano. Nine hours and 11 autographs later, it was time to go home. Tired but content. I LIVE FOR THIS!
Over and out in Big D
