    Florida Football: Thug It Up!

Slowly recovering from a very very busy weekend in sports. Most of it good, and some of it just plain stupid! Let's begin with those two fine school programs from Florida International and the Canes of Miami getting 31 of their own suspended after a brawl that was appalling in it's amateurism and sad in it's thug mentality of ignorance.

Not even two weeks after a pro football player puts a cleat to man's face, I witness a kick holder getting brutally attacked, a Miami player take his helmet off and whack an opponent over the head with it, an FIU player getting DDT'ed to the ground, but best of all was watching the Canes come off the field with their helmets held high like a scene from 1979's 'The Warriors'. Give me a break!

Larry Coker should resign, and both programs should have their games forfeited for such inexcusable and ignorant behavior. Note to Floridians, forget that 'Chad' issue in 2000. How about teaching some collegiate decorum amongst athletes who don't seem to know any better?

Three teams in the NFL decide to play upset and win their first games of the year. Darn you Detroit, Tampa Bay, and Tennessee of all people! Quite a few barn burners, yet I dare say the game of the day was in Nawlins with a game winning field goal by Jon Carney over Philly 27-24. Oh yes, what a difference a week makes. T.O. had 45 yards last but no T.D. Yesterday he had 45 yards and three T.D's. That should keep that yap-trap of his shut for a week. Giants up next Monday night...

Magglio Ordonez has a flair for the dramatic with a 3-run walk off bomb on Huston Street in a 6-3 win and a four game sweep. He hits two homers, yet I recall it was 30 years ago to the day I watched Chris Chambliss do the same thing to Mark Littell of the Kansas City Royals in a 7-6 win. The Tigers wait a week to see if they'll play New York or St. Louis.

Auburn: Hell of a performance on the Gators. I will talk smack no more of the Tigers. The only thing tough about their victory is that they just helped the BCS chances for Texas. Ouch. Very sorry to see Adrian Peterson break his collarbone in front of his Dad's first game in person. Get well A.P!

Missouri: You might be 7-0 if it weren't for some shoddy playcalling late. The world is now learning about former Southlake Carroll phenom Chase Daniels. Great win in defeat. Gig away A&Mers...

How bout them Dallas Stars? First 5-0 start since '96-'97. Three great wins on the West Coast by scores of 4-1, 4-1, and 4-3 via the shootout in Anaheim. If Brendan and company can get the W in San Jose Tuesday night, I believe the natives will be speaking of a special run to the All-Star Game in January. I'm loving it!

Carlos Beltran collects homers six and seven off the Cardinals in NLCS play. That has happened one other guy. You know him as Babe Ruth. This series shall go seven. Anyone remember when Shawn Green and Carlos Delgado were teammates in Toronto?

Are you ready for this? By now you've heard about the lady in the apartment that Cory Lidle crashed into who survived with an assist from her housekeeper. Are you aware she was THE SAME GAL who during a Macy's Parade a few years ago had a pole land on her head when a float fell apart? Same person! Odds of that happening in our life. 1 in a billion.

Da Bears invade Arizona later today. Go Chicago!

Over and out in Big D
