    Tie a Yellow Ribbon...

    No I don't believe the catch in overtime ( ruled complete) would have changed the outcome of the victor. It felt like I was watching the 1998 championship game all over again. 30 seconds away from making something happen, and a 15-1 year results in failure in overtime.

    Triumph or Heartache?

    The 70's are what have been going my mind as I count down the hours to kickoff in Indiana and Louisiana later today. The last time I was this fired up about a possible return trip to the Super Bowl was 1976 when Fran Tarkenton was like a God to me, Chuck Foreman could do no wrong, Brent McClanahan never fumbled the ball, and the Purple People Eaters were simply epic.

    Also in Florida...

    Equally moving postgame was watching Coaches Wyche and Walsh walk to the dressing room arm-in-arm. A great game and a great win for the 49ers, who would reappear in Louisiana next year and decimate the Broncos 55-10 and become the Team of the 80's. I also remind you that in 4 Super Bowls, Joe Montana never threw an interception!

    The Greatest Super Bowl Ever?

    With the series 'Dallas' premiering that same year, it made sense that the Cowboys were dubbed 'America's Team'. Roger Staubach in his next to last season, Tony Dorsett in his prime alongside men like Preston Pearson, Drew Pearson, Mike Hegman, Hollywood Henderson, Randy White, and the rest of the Doomsday Defense. A 12-4 season and loaded with veteran talent.

    Shocking Blue...

    Back in 1994 there was quite a reversal of fortune for Democrats when Republicans knocked the Dems out of power in the Senate and in government after 40 years. I have a funny feeling we're going to see history repeat in 2010 for these elections. The difference being that this time around these protest votes are for 'true change' and not 'more of the same' squabbling and all that roadblock B.S. our government is so good at.
