A Welcome Respite.
Under a raging moon, fresh from a 10 hour work day, ready to settle in the 90 degree heat, and fighting fatigue. Tonight I was given a welcome reprieve...A game that FLEW BY!

If there is such a thing as missing one's calling, mine would probably be music. Since a young lad, the Good Lord gave me perfect pitch. That is to say if I hear a tune, I can tall you what note it is, if its a major, minor, augmented(talking music now-not Texas women:) ), diminished, 7th 9th etc...
In case you didn't hear, the Yankees lost an 11 inning thriller in Detroit 9-6. That game winning hit came at about 3:34 this morning. This, a four hour plus game after a four hour rain delay. To top that off, no postgame fireworks show because of Detroit ordinances and the like...This got me to thinking back to a July 4th night in 1985...Braves vs. Mets...19 innings later a winner...
While this old soul hearkens back and awaits the day a return to radio is made in some capacity, I took a trip down memory lane pondering the thought of a vacation in September. The last two vacations I enjoyed were in October 1999 and February 2004-Lincoln City Oregon, and Galveston Texas. I'll begin with the former.
If records are made to be broken, albeit every 110 years, what I witnessed this day will be one for the ages. Usually it's in a football game where you'll hear an announcer state '30 unanswered points' after one team gets a lead.
