Will Martin in Rangers, Yankees

The rubber game of the series in New York was one that the Rangers let get away. If there has been a knock against Brandon McCarthy when he has started games for the Rangers in 2009, it has been the allowance of that one big inning. Today was no different.

Early on everrthing went the way of Texas as Ian Kinsler and Nelson Cruz each went yard. A 5-1 lead through four innings went by the wayside courtesy of an inside-out three run double by Mark Teixeira. After 5 innings, the Yankees lead 6-5. Brandon proceeded to blow a four run lead.

The Rangers would tie. C.J. Wilson would do like Franky did last Sunday and allow a 2 run homer to Melky Cabrera in the 8th inning. The ball kept carrying and carrying out of the outstretched glove of David Murphy.

Credit the Yankees with a second series sweep over the Rangers. Thankfully the second place Angels also endured some losses in Toronto, so the lead remains at 4 and a half.

Tomorrow we find out if Padilla clears waivers and if the Rangers can bounce back in Beantown. The last time Texas won a game at Fenway Park was in 2007. Kevin Millwood gets the nod and the responsibilty of righting this ship. Brad Penny shall oppose Milly. One thing the Rangers have been good about is showing resiliency after a bad outing.

For a change, it looks like Chris Davis and David Murphy appear ready to snap out of their slumps. Byrd and Cruz aside, it will take a group effort to take up the slack of the absence of Josh Hamilton.

Mere hours away from the grand opening of the new Cowboys Stadium.

This day in 1968 Robert Kennedy enjoyed his last full day alive.

Time for a walk!

Over and out in Big D
