Happy Memorial Day from North Texas!

Congrats to Rory Sabbatini in going wire-to-wire to win the 2009 Byron Nelson. Even with the win his thoughts were on Amy Mickelson and a Houston friend fighting Parkinson's Disease. A great tournament was had and the people of Las Colinas did a great job of hosting. Saw quite a few Bloody Mary drinkers this day!

My personal thanks to the people who made my stay at the Byron this weekend very memorable. The views and players were unbelievable. The service and hospitality tents were A1! Can't wait til next year...

Just in time for the Yankees to come to Arlington, The Rangers finished their road trip at .500 as Brandon McCarthy tossed a complete game 5-0 shutout! Brandon was aided by the return of Michael Young and Ian Kinsler. Josh Hamilton was back in the lineup. He was quick to hit an opposite field blast to give Brandon all the support he needed. The victory was Brandon's first complete game in his career. Jarrod Saltalamacchia also went deep in the Rangers victory. The win allows for a more acceptable 3-3 road trip which certainly didn't look possible after what went down in Detroit. To the defense of Ron Washington and Mike Maddux, even when they lose, it's not as if the Rangers are getting blown out.

It's going to be a hot day in Arlington. This after a day when, as I was heading home from Las Colinas, I was met with absolute whiteout conditions in a liquid sense. Torrential rains, zero visibility, hydroplaning on the 360 and 183 by people who had no business driving in the first place, and some scary looking ground to sky lightning strikes that even had me worried. At one point driving south, you could not see the Ballpark or Cowboys Stadium. Two inches of rain hit Arlington in under 40 minutes. Wow! Then the heat returned...

Off to watch the Yankees/ That alone constitutes another blog.

Time for a walk!

Over and out in Big D
