Panic In Detroit!

Happy Birthday Jodi Steinberg and Josh Hamilton!

More history continues to be made in the city of truth for the Rangers. For good and for bad.

Earlier in the year while making a catch in Toronto, Josh Hamilton injured his ribs diving for a catch in the outfield. His elbow caught his rib. That hobbled Hammy for a spell. Sunday he made a marquee grab for an out. In doing so, he put some pressure on his groin and that made for difficulty walking and pivoting. While no one is making mention of Josh Hamilton going on the DL, he will sit out a few games to heal the wheels. His bat could have been used in a 5-3 loss to the Tigers.

Now the good and bad. I never saw a triple play turned until last night. Texas turned that trick.Gerald Laird at the plate with 2 runners onbase and running. A lineout to Ian Kinsler and a flip to Elvis Andrus for a 4-6-6 triple play. It was a great play. It also wasn't enough as Texas fell for a tenth straight loss in Detroit. The longest losing streak of any team in any other ballpark!

Matt Harrison started off strong. He would fall victim to the long ball. Wilkin Ramirez and Brandon Inge went deep. Justin Verlander came close to getting knocked out, yet he persevered with his 100mph heater and curve. Rangers fall 5-3. The loss was Matt Harrison's first since April 17th after a stretch of going 4-0 with an era of 1.80.

One hit short of a win, the losing streak reaches ten games. The battle of first place teams has Detroit with a 5-0 record against the Rangers in 2009. Tigers will try to complete the sweep later today before interleague play commences in Houston. Kevin Millwood on the mound for Texas.

Rumors of some sad news coming out of Las Colinas. More details tomorrow.

Time to go fishing!

Over and out in Big D
