Happy Birthday Cher Bono and the late great Bobby Murcer.

I remember a game at Yankee Stadium June 12th 2003 with the Bombers and Houston Astros. No less than six pitchers combined on a no-hitter for Houston. Before that you have to go back to Hoyt Wilhelm and 1957 for the last no-no thrown in that hallowed house. We almost saw a repeat in Detroit last night.

Not to mince words but Dontrelle Willis hasn't done much of anything since coming to the American League. A few years removed from being a Cy Young hurler, Willis has gone the way of another Tiger some 27 years ago-Kevin Saucier- who was unable to find the plate after a great run of finding location and solid velocity. D-Train had to leave the game for a spell with an anxiety issue. I was also reminded of Steve Blass having this problem back in the early 1970's.

Tuesday night Dontrelle Willis returned to the D of old, allowing only a Michael Young double early before settling down and retiring 17 in a row at one point. His fastball was spot-on and slider was deadly. Brandon McCarthy had his problems early as the Rangers had anseven game win streak snapped with a 4-0 loss.

The Rangers have now gone nine straight games without a win in Comerica Park. This now becomes a mental challenge for Texas until they find a way to victory. This marked the first 1-hitter thrown at the Rangers since 4/18/07.

Another matchup tomorrow in the city where the Red Wings are getting more love than the first-place Tigers. Matt Harrison will try to change the bad Detroit Juju Texas currently suffers from.

Back to the lake!

Over and out in Big D
