Happy Friday my friends.
Wow! That's all I can say when trying to describe the absolute manner in which the Dallas Mavericks stomped a mud puddle into the San Antonio Spurs Thursday night at the AAC. At times the lead was as high as 38. In the end the margin was 21 for the second game in a row by a 88-67 count. Dirk Nowiztki and Josh Howard accounted for half the Mavericks points. It was all over but the shouting after Dallas started off on an 8-0 run. At no time did they trail this game.
Not sure what frustrated me more as a fan. How strong the Mavericks looked or how poor the shot selection was for the Spurs. From where I stood in Platinum it seemed like the Spurs were rattled by the many rotations and mismatches the Mavericks, namely JJ Barea, Brandon Bass, and Josh Howard put forth. It was an electric night at the AAC, and a night Maverick fans won't soon forget.
Sadly north of the border, the news was not good for Kevin Millwood or the Texas Rangers. The long ball was the enemy of Texas. This time the team in blue was on the receiving end of a 5-2 defeat. Thankfully the team returns to America with hopefully some better results as they prepare for 4 in Baltimore.
CJ Wilson struggles because I believe he thinks he should be the closer. That job is now Franky Francisco's. The sooner he accepts that the better off this whole team shall be. I am sick and tired of watching good ole Ceej decide to get an 0-2 count on a hitter then waste a pitch for a hit! I am hopeful the triumvirate of Jennings, Wilson, and Francisco can be the answer in the last three innings of a game.
My biggest pet peeve? Seeing the bases loaded and a batter hitting the first pitch! Damn you Taylor Teagarden! What were you thinking? I have defended you since before the Olympics and this is how you reward me? When the last batter draws a walk, make the hurler throw strikes! If you get beaned its as good as an RBI. Also worried about what it's going to take David Murphy to crack this sophomore jinx. Oh for 2009 it feels like.
Turned on to Twitter.com 6 weeks ago. Now #1 in Arlington! Ashton Kutcher I am not nor will ever be, but am happy to be recognized in my back yard...
NFL Draft tomorrow. Matt Stafford should become the second Highland Park prodigy to be drafted and play QB for the Detroit Lions. Go back some 53 years and google the name Bobby Layne. I Hope Mark Sanchez does become a Seahawk. That would be a good fit.
A stormy weekend awaits North Texas.
Time for a walk!
Over and out in Big D

PS Happy Birthday Barbara Streisand!
