To Chronicle a Debacle!

Happy Hump Day my friend! In between work and house sitting for sis I have been away from this labor of love, yet the thoughts continue to fly...just like St Nick in the sky in 96 more hours...

1.Last Sunday's Cowboy debacle reminded me of a game played in October 1974 at RFK. You may remember that the Redskins jumped out to a 28-0 lead. Roger Staubach would then mount a furious rally yet come up short 28-21. I was hoping for more of the same in 2005. Also in 1974 a movie was released called 'Cooley High'. Released during the height of 'Blaxploitation' films, I merely choose to borrow from the name. WHO WAS THAT REDSKIN RECEIVER providing the 'Cooley High'? Gregg Williams obviously remembered his days with Drew Bledsoe in Buffalo. If you blitz him, he will fall hard. An ugly ugly loss for the Cowpokes! You can forget the playoffs now...

2.I TOLD YOU SO! Those of you who read this stopoff regularly remember what I stated one month ago. San Diego could and would expose a weakness on the Indianapolis Colt defense that would lead to a loss. That run by Mr Turner late was added gravy. The Colts may be everybody's fave to go to Super XL, but I say to beware the team that flies under the radar. Ditto that team from Ohio...Peyton looked flustered like his days at Volunteerland fighting off a Gator. Ouch! Expect a bunch of rest this Saturday in Seattle between both squads.

3.Try though they may, the Dallas Stars have their issues in the land they once inhabited. Mr. Gaborik hits a netter late to frustrate the Turk and company in a 2-1 loss. I see a program coming soon-'Wild On Stars'? Maybe not.

4.Not to be outdone, that other team formerly from Minnesota was lights out on the Mavericks Tuesday! Kobe Bryant plays but three quarters, scores a point every two minutes, hits threes and mid range jumpers, closing out with 62! My eyes had to readjust at first glance.

Reminded me of a game I saw in 1977 with the Hawks and Knicks when I watched 'Pistol' Pete Maravich knock in 73 on New York. That was amazing. I also remember that scorefest the final day of the '77-'78 campaign when George Gervin hits for 63 and Dave Thompson netted 73. Upper stratosphere stuff now. Rare like a blue moon, but fun to watch.

5.From Idiot to Corporate: Johnny Damon now a Yankee for the next four years? I still can't believe it! Red Sox fans might be humming an old Led Zeppelin tune to this routine. 'How many more times'...Or was that 'Dazed and Confused'. Can anybody picture Mr Damon as a clean cut short haired Yank? I can't either!

Sparky Lyle, Wade Boggs, Roger Clemens, Babe Ruth, Waite Hoyt, Urban Shocker, Mike Easler, Luis Tiant, and now Johnny. May 1st is May Day on the calendar. It will also be the first time the Yankees visit the Red Sox nation. Oh the ovation that awaits!

6.Damn you Texas Rangers! Why do you trade away your strength? Chris Young AND Adrian Gonzalez to San Diego for Adam Eaton? And they called Grady Fuson a fool for not staying. I do not approve of this trade. If Eaton and company prove me wrong I will say so. I WANT KEVIN MILLWOOD, damnit!

7.Prepare to be bowled over every day until January 4th. Aside from the BCS match with Texas and USC, I'll be keeping an eye on Nebraska-Michigan on 12/28th, the Cotton Bowl with Texas Tech on 1/2nd and of course the Orange Bowl with Penn State and Florida State.

8.Have you gotten your shopping done? I have! Mom and Dad don't know this but they will like what Santa has brought them. I will entertaining them for the next 6 days so if you don't see anything new until the 27th, that's why.

9.Saw some incredibly colorful and creative X-mas light setups in Mansfield and Highland Park. If time permits I will try to get a few snapshots for the world to see. North Texas sure knows how to light up the night, if you will...

10.2005 has been a very memorable year for yours truly. You already know how much I enjoy this labor of love. To those of you who have supported me since day one, THANK YOU!

To those of you who patronize me at my work in Las Colinas, GOD BLESS YOU!

To those of you who still think I am one brick short of a fallout, NO OFFENSE TAKEN, and a happy holiday to you as well! The following has been true since the beginning of time: He/She who pretends to be nice to you but is rude to the waiter is really a sorry soul.

Over and out in Big D
