Last night the second half of SBC hockey reconvened in Duncanville after a two week break. In the case of the Highland Park Scots (after a tie and 2 straight losses)there was but one question:Was the slump over? My guess was YES!
On a night when Illusion Sports did double duty broadcasting the first match between Mansfield and Arlington Martin, I found it peculiar that coach Chris Kostopoulos was moments away from starting his game and he was at rinkside watching a different match. The coach was calm and serene. That told me he was ready. Indeed the Scots were, defeating Grapevine 4-1 in convincing fashion.
Josh McDonald made two goals, 4 points for Locke Jillson, and 2 assists for Michael Raggio. Michael now in double digits for the season. Highland Park needed this win! From where I sat, the Master believes that the Tigers of Mansfield will make the Gold 2 division an interesting one to watch in the race for the Texaco Cup.
Scots improve to 9-3-1 while Mansfield is back at .500(5-5-3)albeit 6 points back. Big game for Skyler Skendrovic with 2 goals and a 3-0 win on the Warriors. Wayne Johns and Don Le played epic on defense.
In between both contests I also watched first-hand why the Colleyville Panthers remain the only undefeated team in 2004-2005 as they scorched the Arlington Wild 11-5! We do it again next week. Special thanks to Coach Kostopoulos, Don Le, Skyler Skendrovic, Tiger coach Bryan Harrison and President Greg Miller. The interview remains the thing!
Over and out in Big D
